In 2007 Microsoft introduced an alternative to Flash, Silverlight.[1] A browser plug-in for playing media and right interactive web applications, silverlight is very similar to Flash. Silverlight also comes with a designer and developer tools like flash, but instead of ActionScript uses Microsoft's .Net framework for building web applications.
